History
Gredelj Rolling Stock Factory was founded in 1894 as main workshop of the Hungarian state railways for repair and general inspection of steam locomotives.
The experience gained through many years of maintaining railway vehicles was the starting point for manufacture of new vehicles.

Subsequently, in 1954 there was constructed a new mail van and there was launched production of motor trains for narrow gauge rail, structure of which was of aluminum.

Already in 1963 there was constructed the world’s first aluminum train for standard gauge railroads.

Moving the locomotive plant to a new location in 1967 indicated the first phase in relocating Gredelj from downtown. From that time Gredelj was operating on two locations until 2010 when its entire production was united in one place.
