Gredelj Rolling Stock Factory was founded in 1894 as main workshop of the Hungarian state railways for repair and general inspection of steam locomotives.

The experience gained through many years of maintaining railway vehicles was the starting point for manufacture of new vehicles. Subsequently, in 1954 there was constructed a new mail van and there was launched production of motor trains for narrow gauge rail, structure of which was of aluminum. Already in 1963 there was constructed the world’s first aluminum train for standard gauge railroads.

Moving the locomotive plant to a new location in 1967 indicated the first phase in relocating Gredelj from downtown. From that time Gredelj was operating on two locations until 2010 when its entire production was united in one place.

By moving to a new location in year 2010, Gredelj became one of the most modern factories in this part of Europe.

ADDITIONAL SERVICES - spare parts (assemblies) for railway vehicles, parts of interior – seats for railway vehicles, services on various machines and lines (welding, cutting, milling, metal processing etc.), testing of materials, consulting services, training of personnel etc.

Today TZV Gredelj is proud of the fact that its locomotives, coaches, freight cars and multiple units were designed in accordance with UIC and AAR standards and are adapted to all rail tracks (narrow, wide or standard gauges). They are currently pulling trains and transporting passengers and goods all over the world, from Argentina over Guinea to Saudi Arabia.

Gredelj Rolling Stock Factory with more than 125 years of tradition and experience in the design, production, reconstruction, modernization and maintenance of rolling stock and with new production facilities in Zagreb, on a location of 352,000 m2, with 80,000 m2 of covered space and 10,000 m of track, proudly highlights the fact that it has become part of the Tatravagonka a.s. family.

Tatravagonka a.s. employs over 12,000 people worldwide, produces around 4,000 freight cars and 10,000 bogies annually and transports tons and tons of goods around the world.
