The prototype of diesel electric multiple unit (hereinafter DMU) for regional traffic is a 3-part train set composed of two end motor modules containing driver’s cab and one middle motor module without driver’s cab.
Diesel multiple unit is particularly suitable for exploitation on railway lines with high passenger frequency, on shorter commuter traffic distances, as well as for greater distances on non-electrified lines.
Electric three-unit railcar series 6 111, produced by GANZ MAVAG 1977.-1980. consists of two driver’s cars and the middle motor car, and has the possibility of combining up to three railcars into a rail train.
